North Star Society Monthly Giving Program

Please consider joining the North Star Society, the Museum's monthly giving program. Just as the North Star helped guide fugitive enslaved people north to freedom on the Underground Railroad, your support as a North Star Society Charter Member will help guide the Museum forward by providing a steady flow of financial support that we can count on. Your support will help us carry out our mission and work so we maintain our construction schedule and open our doors in September 2016.

As a member of the North Star Society monthly sustainer program, you will designate a specific amount, as low as $8, to be charged automatically to your credit card each month. While that may not seem like a lot, it is a dedicated donation that can be counted on each and every month to ensure the success of the Museum and its mission. Since North Star Society Charter Members give on a monthly basis, we will not mail you any renewal notices or additional gift requests, which saves us postage and reduces our administrative costs.

As a Monthly Sustainer you will receive the following benefits:

  • A North Star Society Member card valid for a 10% discount when presented at a Smithsonian gift shop and the Smithsonian Catalog
  • An exclusive North Star Society Certificate of Appreciation suitable for framing
  • Your name listed on our electronic Charter Member Honor Roll.
  • Periodic E-News updates about our construction progress, public programs, and other interesting happenings at our Museum
  • An annual tax receipt letter sent in late January which includes the total of all your fully tax-deductible monthly gifts, including any additional gifts you may have made beyond your monthly contribution.
     

If you are already a Charter Member, there will not be any change to the status of your membership except that you will now be considered a North Star Society Charter Member. Once a Charter Member, always a Charter Member!
