"The Cosmos in Miniature: The Remarkable Star Map of Simeon De Witt"

This exhibition features the oldest surviving Anglo-American star map. It was made in 1780 by Simeon De Witt, a surveyor for George Washington and the Continental army. The map shows the stars visible from De Witt's post in New Jersey.

A "Golden" Online Learning Opportunity for Students

Visit this new interactive Web site that encourages students to investigate the journal of Alex Van Valen, who set sail in 1849 to stake his claim in the California gold fields. Find out what life was like during the gold rush from someone who was there.

Give a Gift in Honor of Dad

On Father's Day (June 20), Americans honor fathers everywhere with gifts of gadgets, ties, and power tools. To celebrate this year, why not make a donation to the Museum in honor of your loved one? Send an e-card to notify your special person about your gift. Your tax-deductible donation will help the Museum share its treasured collections with the public, and create new educational programs for all to enjoy, both on-site and online. Honor someone with a gift today!
