The Dinosaur Artist: Obsession, Betrayal, and the Quest for Earth's Ultimate Trophy
|
FREE ticketed event The National Museum of Natural History invites you to attend an evening with Paige Williams, author of The Dinosaur Artist, followed by a conversation with Kirk Johnson, the museum’s Sant Director. The Dinosaur Artist explores the history of fossil collecting, a popular yet risky business where the lines between poacher and hunter, or collector and smuggler, can easily blur. Through the true story of one man’s dangerous obsession with a rare dinosaur skeleton, Williams delves into the world of illicit international fossil trade and explores the question of who, ultimately, owns the past. The Dinosaur Artist will be available for purchase and signing after the program. This program is offered as part of the Evening With... series in anticipation of the opening of The David H. Koch Hall of Fossils—Deep Time on June 8, 2019. This exhibition will depict a journey through time of more than 3.7 billion years of life on Earth and debut the return of the Nation’s T. Rex to the museum.
