FREE ticketed event

2:30 – 4:00 pm

Museum educators lead your family through the process of mindful observations and then teach techniques for accurate illustration. Participants will use real museum specimens to practice observing and drawing. No previous drawing experience or skills needed. Registration is required, space is limited.

Before and after the workshop, participants can meet and talk with illustrators who create ocean science and botanical illustrations, view beautiful illustrations in rare books from Smithsonian Libraries and chat with a Smithsonian librarian (these experts will be in Q?rius from 1:30-4:30 p.m.).
